Friday, Oct. 1, at 6:35 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 800 block of 19th Street regarding a family disturbance. When officers arrived they were advised by the reporting party that her father, who was allegedly intoxicated, had asked her to do some chores. She stated she did not want to and sat on the couch and watched her TV. The suspect went outside and returned with a large wrench. The suspect allegedly threw the wrench into the TV causing a large hole and significant damage. The victim placed the suspect under citizen’s arrest for vandalism. The suspect, Leon Juoza, 60, of Santa Monica, was booked for felony vandalism, His bail was set at $20,000.
Monday, Sept. 27, at 4:17 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Fourth Street — Parking Structure 3 — regarding a report of a suspicious person in the area. Officers reported seeing a man walk up to a car, open the door, sit inside and then pop open the trunk. The suspect allegedly got out of the car and started rummaging through the trunk. Officers confronted the suspect, who told them the car was his girlfriends and he was looking for a screwdriver he needed for work. Officers checked his story and found it to be bogus. The car was not registered to the suspect’s girlfriend. He was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools. Officers said there was damage to the driver’s side door. The suspect was identified as Dominique Phillips, 26, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $2,000.
Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 2:45 a.m.,
Officers were in the 2100 block of Pearl Street when they saw a juvenile who was allegedly skateboarding in the middle of the street. Officers stopped the suspect for a vehicle code violation and for possible curfew violations. While talking with the suspect, officers learned he was an adult and had a warrant for his arrest. As officers started to arrest the suspect, he allegedly jumped up and tried to run away. Officers located the suspect a short distance away hiding behind a fireplace on the outside of a residence. Officers searched the suspect and found him to be in possession of methamphetamines, a hypodermic needle and marijuana. The suspect, Anthony Navarez, 42, of Venice, was booked possession, the warrant and for being a pedestrian on the roadway. His bail was set at $26,000.
Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 2:52 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2900 block of Main Street regarding a fight in progress. When officers arrived, the victim, a liquor store manager, said the suspect came into the store the day before and stole some beer and magazines. The incident was on video tape. The suspect returned and was asked to leave. He allegedly became confrontational and refused to leave. A fight broke out between the man and an employee. When officers tried to place the suspect under arrest, he allegedly became combative. The suspect was eventually booked for burglary, resisting arrest and a parole hold. The suspect was identified as Leroy Arrington, 50, a transient. He was not eligible for bail.
Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 2:28 a.m.,
Officers observed a vehicle exit a parking lot in the 2600 block of Main Street and head southbound. The vehicle allegedly accelerated at a speed higher than the posted speed limit. As the vehicle traveled southbound, the vehicle was swerving in the lane and touched the solid double yellow lines. Officers conducted a traffic stop in Venice. Upon contacting the driver, they observed symptoms of impairment. Officers had the driver perform a series of balance and coordination tests. Upon completion, officers believed the driver had been driving while impaired. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of cocaine, police said. The driver, Cody Shelley, 27, was arrested for driving under the influence, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Her bail was set at $10,000.
Thursday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2000 block of Lincoln Boulevard (Mittel’s Art & Frame Center) regarding a theft suspect in custody who was fighting with an employee. When officers arrived, they saw a store employee holding the suspect in a headlock. The suspect said that he saw the suspect walk into the store. The employee left to help a customer. When he returned the suspect was attempting to leave the store with Liquitex brand acrylic. The suspect allegedly attempted to flee as the employee called police. The employee held him until police arrived. The suspect was placed under arrest for robbery. He was identified as Ian Dionne, 30, a transient. His bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, Oct. 1, at 4:06 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of the Third Street Promenade regarding a theft suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they were advised by store security that two suspects removed two bottles of men’s cologne and placed them in a paper bag and gave them to a third suspect. The third suspect then left the store without paying for the items. The suspects were detained by store security and further investigation revealed that one of the suspects had a tool — wire cutters — in his possession. Officers also discovered additional stolen items from other stores on the promenade. The suspects were arrested and booked for burglary, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy. They were identified as Batamgal Chuluunbat, 20, Bukhburged Ovunjaral, 20, and Onontungalog Oyunjaral — all of Los Angeles. Bail was set at $20,000 for each.
