On January 31, at about 1:04 p.m.
Officers responded to a radio call for service at 15th Street and Wilshire Blvd regarding a battery involving a subject in a wheelchair. While responding to the location, officers saw the suspect swinging his fists at a female victim. The subject was detained for an investigation. Officers spoke to the original victim and learned the victim was driving westbound on Wilshire Boulevard and 15th Street. She saw the subject sitting in his wheelchair in the middle of the intersection and believed he needed assistance. The victim exited her car and offered assistance. The subject became angry and punched the victim in the right forearm. The victim left and called the police. The victim was desirous of prosecution. The subject was taken into custody. Maurice Leonard Freedman, 58, homeless, was issued a citation for battery and a warrant.
