Sunday, June 19, at 11:45 a.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1500 block of Ocean Avenue — I Cugini restaurant — regarding several people engaged in a fight inside the location. When officers arrived, they made contact with all those involved and learned that the alleged victim and suspect (boyfriend and girlfriend) were having a Father’s Day brunch and began arguing with one another at the table. The argument escalated and the suspect lunged at the victim with a table knife and fork, police said. The victim grabbed the suspect by the throat and kept her at a distance. Both remained engaged until a third person broke up the fight. Based on interviews with witnesses, the officers placed the woman under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. She was identified as Bricnee Williams, 27, of Winnetka, Calif. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Sunday, June 19, at 8:31 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Euclid Street regarding two people trespassing inside a vacant apartment. When officers arrived, they detained the two suspects and after speaking to a witness and the owner of the property, officers placed the suspects under arrest for trespassing. The suspects were identified as Steven Timmons, 36, of Los Angeles; and Melissa Bennett, 39, of Los Angeles. She was booked for trespassing, misappropriation of lost property, possession of a hypodermic needle and a probation violation. Her bail was set at $10,000. Timmons had a warrant and his bail was set at $500.
Sunday, June 19, at 10:50 a.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Fourth Street and Wilshire Boulevard when they saw someone crossing the street against a solid “Don’t Walk” sign in violation of the vehicle code. Officers made contact with the suspect and saw that he had some white powder protruding from inside one of his nostrils. Officers said he was acting in a fashion consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance. After conducting several preliminary tests, the suspect was placed under arrest for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He as identified as Marcus Murphy, 51, of Tarzana, Calif. His bail was set at $2,500.
Saturday, June 18, at 2:22 p.m.,
Officers were in the 1300 block of Alley 13 investigating an assault when they saw several people acting suspiciously in the rear driveway of a residence located on the 1300 block of 14th Street. As officers drove toward the group, several people started running. With the assistance of other officers, all suspects were detained. During interviews, officers learned that one of the suspects had brass knuckles. During a search of the man’s car, officers said they found cocaine. Based on this information, officers placed three of the five suspects under arrest and transported them to the Santa Monica Jail. Christopher Cooper, 18, of Anaheim was booked for possession of a dangerous weapon. His bail was set at $20,000. Derrek Sanders, 30, of Santa Monica, was booked for possession of a controlled substance, a probation violation and for an outstanding warrant. No bail was set. Michael Perez, 18, of Santa Monica, was booked for possession of a controlled substance. No bail information was provided.
Friday, June 17 at 9:23 a.m.,
Officers responded to the Civic Auditorium parking lot located on the 1800 block of Main Street regarding a report of an assault that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim, a parking attendant, who said that when she requested the suspect’s parking ticket, the woman told her that she did not have any money to pay the parking fee. The attendant then requested the driver’s license so that she could be billed later and an argument ensued. When the attendant stepped in front of the vehicle to write the license plate down, the suspect allegedly stepped on the gas, almost striking the attendant on two occasions, police said. There were several witnesses to the crime. The suspect was placed under arrest and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. She was identified as Alexandra Kalina Cholewinski, 22, of Winnetka, Calif. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Wednesday, June 15, at 1:37 a.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Ocean Avenue and Broadway regarding a traffic accident that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the drivers and determined that one of them ran a red light and collided with the other. Officers determined that the driver at fault was under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested and booked for DUI. She was identified as Catalina Cardona, 28, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $15,000.
