On Sunday, September 6, at approximately 1:39 a.m.
Officers responded to a Check the Status call on the 800 block of Pearl Street. According to Dispatcher notes, an accidental shooting had taken place inside the residence and there were two individuals inside. Officers determined that Kumasi Meeks was the sole occupant of the residence and found a pistol on his dresser with no magazine in the chamber. Officers detected a bullet impact point on a nearby table and gathered from neighbors that a single shot had been heard. Due to the potential of the discharged round causing injury or death to a neighbor, Meeks was arrested and later cited out for a 243.6(a) P.C. -Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, the firearm was booked as evidence.
On Monday, August 31 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block Wilshire Blvd. for a theft. Suspect, Aaron Castle, was accused of stealing candy and exiting the store without paying. Upon exiting Castle hit the store employee with a broom. Castle was charged with 211PC – Este Robbery and booked into the Santa Monica Jail. He is being held on $50,000 bail with a court date at the end of September.
