Friday, March 18, at 1:15 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 700 block of Ocean Park Boulevard regarding a possible location being used to grow pot for sale. Officers went to the location and made contact with a man who was leaving the residence. Officers conducted a consensual search of the suspect and found paperwork on growing weed and over $1,000 in cash. During a search of the home, officers said they found 105 pot plants, two bags of processed marijuana (5.6 and 8.4 ounces), large amounts of cash and anabolic steroids. The suspect, Jackey Ross, 45, of Santa Monica, was booked for possession of marijuana for sale, cultivation of marijuana and possession of pot. His bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, March 18, at 6:54 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Wilshire Boulevard regarding an assault and battery. When officers arrived they found the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The victim was out cold. Several witnesses told officers that the suspect ran up to the victim and punched him in the face. While the victim was on the ground, the suspect continued to strike the victim in the face with his fists and feet. The suspect walked away, did some push-ups and walked back to the victim and started to kick him several more times, all while the victim was unconscious. Officers located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect, Ronald Hughes, 33, a transient, was booked for attempted homicide and mayhem. His bail was set at $500,000.
Monday, March 14, at 10:04 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Main and Kinney streets when they saw a man running out of a liquor store with the manager chasing after him. A confrontation ensued and officers intervened, breaking up the fight. The manager told officers that the suspect took a bottle of beer and food and left without paying. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for robbery and a probation violation. He was identified as Damion Bradbury, 24, a transient. His bail was set at $50,000.
Tuesday, March 15, at 8:27 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Appian Way regarding a suspect trying to open car doors. When officers arrived they made contact with the suspect. The suspect appeared to be delusional, police said. As officers attempted to check the suspect for weapons, the suspect allegedly elbowed one of them, striking him in the chest. The suspect attempted to walk away but was detained by officers. The suspect replied, “That was stupid of me.” When asked why he struck the officer, the suspect said, “I thought I could take you,” police said. Officers arrested the suspect, who was identified as Bryan Krum, 39, a transient. He was booked for assault on a police officer. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, March 16, at 7:57 a.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the 300 block of Wilshire Boulevard when they saw a man riding a skateboard while being chased by another person. The two went into traffic lanes, causing cars to stop short in order to avoid striking them. The skateboarder entered the street while facing a red traffic signal. Officers stopped the skateboarder a few streets away. Officers told him that he ran a red light and called his parole officer. Officers let the skateboarder go, only to arrest him a short time later after receiving a report about a stolen skateboard. Officers were told that the suspect physically took the skateboard from another and fled. The suspect was arrested and booked for robbery and a parole violation. He was identified as Daniel Brown, 25, of West Hollywood. He was not eligible for bail.
Wednesday, March 16, at 7:25 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 200 block of Wilshire Boulevard regarding a bicyclist that was stopped for riding on the sidewalk. The bicylist did not have any identification, police said. While trying to identify him, officers discovered the suspect was in possession of 114 grams of marijuana. The suspect told officers that it was medical marijuana, but officers were not moved. They placed the suspect under arrest for possession of pot for sale and for riding on the sidewalk. He was identified as Isiah Gunn, 23, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $20,000.
Thursday, March 17, at 9:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 3300 block of Pico Boulevard — Trader Joe’s — regarding a shoplifter. When officers arrived, they detained a possible suspect outside the grocery store. The suspect allegedly told officers that he did steal some items and was sorry for doing so. Store employees told the officers that the suspect stole some food. They confronted him and told him not to return. They changed their mind about pressing charges when officers said they found additional items from the store in the suspect’s car. The suspect was arrested and booked for burglary. He was identified as Andre Carey, 50, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $20,000.
