PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Cops are on the hunt for two men who allegedly approached a woman with a gun, jumped in her car and sexually assaulted her.
Santa Monica police said the victim was stopped at a red light at the corner of 26th Street and Colorado Avenue around 4 a.m. on Feb. 19 when two Latino men approached.
One pulled a gun and forced his way into the victim’s car. The two assailants then drove the victim to the 1900 block of Stewart Street where she was raped.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said the suspects then drove away, leaving the victim at the scene. Officers later found the victim’s vehicle in the 2700 block of Kansas Avenue. Further investigation revealed that the car was involved in a hit-and-run collision with a parked car in the 2200 block of Delaware Avenue, which occurred around 4:15 a.m.
Officers are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspects.
The primary suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, 17-23 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches weighing 150-160 pounds, having a “heavy” build, a medium complexion and waxed eyebrows. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black bandana (covering face), and black jeans.
The second suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, 17-23 years old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet weighing 175-190 pounds, having a “thin-skinny” build and medium complexion. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black bandana (covering face), and blue jeans.
