Sunday, Aug. 30, at 8:50 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1300 block of 17th Street regarding a suspicious person in a subterranean garage. When officers arrived, they observed the suspect leaving the garage and walk to a waiting vehicle that contained another individual. Further investigation revealed that the suspect who left the garage had items in his possession commonly used for burglary. Officers checked out the garage and found two bikes with their locks cut. Additional information led officers to believe that the two suspects were conspiring to steal the bicycles. They were placed under arrest for burglary, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. The suspects were identified as David Centola, 28, of Inglewood, and Daniel Pacifici, 28, of Los Angeles. Bail was set at $50,000.
Saturday, Aug. 29, at 110:27 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — CVS — regarding a report of a suspicious person. When officers arrived, they found an individual sitting on the ground with his head between his legs. Officers said they tried to make contact with the individual, but he was unresponsive. A short time later, the man suddenly woke up. Officers believed he was under the influence of some narcotic. Officers conducted a consensual search and found a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and several white pills that turned out to be generic Xanax. Police placed the suspect under arrest for drug possession. He was identified as Michael Block, 21, a transient. His bail was set at $10,000.
Saturday, Aug. 29, at 5:15 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — Ye Olde King’s Head — regarding a fight. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who said the suspect punched him in the mouth. The suspect apparently had been in the bar with the victim and two others before leaving with his girlfriend. The suspect then allegedly returned and punched the victim. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault and battery. He was identified as Patrick Krull, 24, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m.,
An officer on patrol in the 3100 block of Pico Boulevard observed a man riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in violation of the law. As the officer attempted to stop the bicycle rider, the rider attempted to flee. As the rider attempted to backtrack, he struck the patrol car. The rider, Hector Castillo, 29, of Santa Monica, then allegedly tried to flee on foot. He was detained a short distance away. The rider stated he ran because he was on probation. During a search, officers located drug paraphernalia — a glass pipe — and an iPod that later turned out to have been stolen, police said. He was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. No bail information was available.
Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 9:35 a.m.,
Officers stopped a truck in the 500 block of Colorado Avenue for a vehicle code violation. Inside of the bed of the truck were three bicycles. Further investigation revealed the bicycles had their serial numbers scratched off. Due to statements by the suspect, officers placed him under arrest for possession of stolen property, possession of an item with an altered or obliterated serial number and a probation violation. The suspect was identified as Martin Barker, 55, of Anaheim. His bail was set at $20,000.
Monday, Aug. 24, at 9:31 a.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Fourth Street and Arizona Avenue regarding a report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they saw what appeared to be two witnesses detaining the suspect. The alleged victim and the witnesses told officers the suspect tried to snatch a money bag from the victim, who was making a deposit for his boss at a local bank. The victim and the suspect struggled over the bag. Witnesses observed the struggle and assisted the victim. The suspect, Ronald Houston, 22, of Los Angeles, was taken into custody and booked for attempted robbery. His bail was set at $50,000.
Sunday, July 5, at 5:15 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2600 block of Fifth Street regarding an auto burglary. The suspects smashed the rear window and took items from inside. Officers were able to recover evidence at the scene that led them to a potential suspect. The suspect, Matthew Bravo, 37, of Santa Monica, was located last month and later booked for burglary. His bail was set at $20,000.
