Thursday, June 2, at 3:03 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1800 block of Lincoln Boulevard — 7-11 — regarding aggressive panhandlers in front of the store. When officers arrived, they detained one of the suspects, who was allegedly too intoxicated to care for himself. The suspect was placed under arrest and booked for public intoxication. He was identified as Patrick Gallagher, 47, a transient. His bail was set at $250.
Thursday, June 2, at 4:47 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard regarding a report of an assault that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who told them that she was walking on the south sidewalk of Santa Monica Boulevard when the suspect, who was walking in front of her, stopped and began doing jumping jacks. The woman told officers that she asked the man if she could pass by him and he allegedly turned towards her and tried to slap her across the face. The woman partially blocked the assault and was struck in the hands. A witness from a local store confronted the suspect, who verbally berated them. As the suspect started to walk away, he turned and tried to spit on the witness, police said. Officers detained the suspect and he was booked for assault and battery and a probation violation. No bail was set. He was identified as Voyle Coleman, 28, a transient.
Friday, June 3, at 8:38 p.m.,
Officers were in the area of Main and Hill streets making contact with those who were camping illegally when they saw a suspect in possession of property that did not belong to him. Officers made contact with the suspect, who admitted to taking a shopping cart from a local grocery store to use as his personal storage, police said. Officers placed him under arrest for theft and possession of lost property and an outstanding warrant. He was identified as Daniel Holland, 49, a transient. His bail was set at $1,101.
Saturday, June 4, at 1:10 a.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the south alley of the 800 block of Bay Street when they stopped a bicyclist for riding at night without a light. During the stop, the suspect allegedly told officers that he was in possession of several different drugs. Officers searched the suspect and recovered heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine. The suspect was identified as John David Hanson, 40, a transient. Bail set at $10,000.
Saturday, June 4, at 2:20 a.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Fourth Street and Broadway regarding a robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with two women who said they were walking east on Broadway when they were suddenly attacked from behind by two other women. The suspects were trying to grab the victims’ purses, police said. The victims resisted and, after a long struggle, one of the victims had her purse taken from her. When officers arrived, one of the victims told them that she saw the suspects run into Parking Structure 7. Officers secured the structure and after a few minutes located a car with two women inside who matched the description of the suspects. They were detained, along a third suspect in the car. Officers searched the vehicles and said they found a loaded handgun, which they believed belonged to the third suspect, a man. Both women and the man were placed under arrest and booked for robbery. The man was also booked for carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in public and for participating in a criminal street gang. The suspects were identified as Evenlyn Robles-Salazar, 18, of Los Angeles; a 17-year-old juvenile from Inglewood; and Daniel Moreno, 19, of Sherman Oaks. Moreno’s bail was set at $90,000. Robles-Salazar’s bail was set at $50,000, and the female juvenile was detained with no bail at a facility for youth.
Sunday, June 5, at 10:46 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard regarding a report of someone ramming parked cars with a shopping cart. When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who matched the suspect’s description and was pushing a shopping cart full of personal belongings. Officers determined the suspect was too drunk to take care of himself and placed him under arrest for public intoxication. While trying to place him inside the patrol vehicle, police said the suspect kicked an officer in the leg. The suspect was eventually booked for battery on a police officer, public intoxication and a parole violation. No bail was set. He was identified as David Perkins, 50, a transient.
