If you plan to travel south on the 405 Freeway between Santa Monica and National boulevards, you better think again.
The contractor working on the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project plans to fully close the freeway on the southbound side to install an overhead sign and conduct other roadway construction activities along the median, officials with Metro said.
The closure will take place from midnight to 5 a.m. on the nights of March 18 to Thursday, March 20, and from midnight to 6 a.m. on Friday, March 21 to Saturday, March 22.
Lanes will begin to close at 10 p.m., with ramps closing at 7 p.m.
If you do find yourself on the 405, take the Santa Monica Boulevard exit, turn left to eastbound Santa Monica, turn right on Sepulveda, right on National and then left on to the 405 on-ramp on National.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project will add a 10-mile carpool lane and improve supporting infrastructure such as ramps, bridges and sound walls on the San Diego Freeway, while widening lanes from the Santa Monica Freeway to U.S. Route 101.
