NORWALK, CALIF. — Only 79 votes separate Mayor Richard Bloom and Assemblywoman Betsy Butler in their race for the 50th Assembly District as of Tuesday afternoon, county officials say.
That's the lowest margin so far in the contest, which Bloom has consistently led since the initial batch of results was announced on Nov. 7.
Bloom now commands 85,508 votes, and Butler 85,429 — a .04 percent difference.
The new numbers come after another 130,063 ballots were added across the county. There are another 215,991 left to count, officials say.
Another vote update is expected on Friday afternoon.
