PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Two people are in custody for allegedly beating a man in an alley, leaving him in critical condition, Santa Monica police said Wednesday.
The assault took place around 4 a.m. Monday in the 1800 block of 20th Street, said SMPD’s Sgt. Richard Lewis.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with severe head trauma and underwent surgery. His condition was still critical Wednesday, but he did show signs of improvement, Lewis said.
The suspects were identified as Terrelle Antoine, 23, and Teresa Harper, 26; both from Santa Monica. They were booked for assault causing great bodily injury.
Lewis said the suspects were living together at the time of their arrest and may be affiliated with or are members of a local street gang.
The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call SMPD detectives at (310) 458-8451 or the watch commander at (310) 458-8427. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call the WeTip hotline at (800) 78-CRIME (27463).
