On Tuesday, November 24 6:34 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Main Street regarding an individual who was attempting to break into an ATM. Upon arrival, employees were standing outside the location where the Suspect was seen holding the front door shut from the inside. Employees noticed the Suspect walk in and begin to pry open the ATM, at which point they walked out the back door and called the police. When Officers contacted the Suspect they found cash and an iPhone that belonged to one of the employees. Upon broadcasting the details of the call over the radio, several other Officers recognized the Suspect from two prior Burglaries that had occurred in the city. Shawn Douglas O’Neal was arrested for a 487 PC-Grand Theft and later found to be in violation his probation, adding a 1203.2 PC to his charges. O’Neal was later cited and released per Covid-19 protocols.
