Kids and their parents can enjoy free concerts and activities, including singing, dancing, dress-up and face painting, beginning April 5 through May 24 on the Santa Monica Pier as part of the Wake Up With the Waves series, now in its eighth year.
Series co-founder Michael Cladis is back to host the series, partnering with local co-producer KC Mancebo at Clamorhouse Kids to bring a lineup of children's entertainers.
"Either kids can hang out in front of the TV on Saturday morning, or they can get active, involved, and maybe even inspired," said S. Jay Farrand, pier administrator. "It's a great way to start the day with some fresh-air, and then you've got all the family fun of the pier afterwards. Saturday (equals) planned."
This year's lineup features former Ray Charles back-up singers, Grammy winners, nationally touring bands, and a band that Michelle Obama invited to play the White House as part of her initiative to get kids moving, organizers said.
All concerts are held from 10 a.m. to noon on the Santa Monica Pier. For more information, call (310) 458-8900 or visit wakeupwiththewaves.com
