This year Valentine's Day may fall on a Sunday, but there are events taking place throughout the Westside all weekend to help Santa Monicans spread the love.
For those looking to enjoy a romantic meal together, Santa Monica restaurants like Del Frisco's Grille and FIG are offering special holiday menus in honor of St. Valentine.
Friday, Feb. 12 - Sunday, Feb. 14, Del Frisco's Grille, 1551 Ocean Ave., will offer a romantic brunch, complete with Cupid's Cocktail (made of Stoli Razberi, POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice and orange juice) at $10.50 a piece or $21 for a brunch carafe. All weekend, the Grille will also feature a 6 oz. filet and lobster tail for $44 and a prime rib for $41, paired with a, “Triple Chocolate Decadence” for dessert for $9.
Fans of Del Frisco's Grille can also enter to win a Valentine's meal through Facebook. Two lucky couples will win a last-minute brunch or dinner (valued at $200) on Feb. 13 by tagging their date on Facebook and sharing why they'd like to spend Valentine's Day weekend at Del Frisco's Grille.
Over at the Fairmont, FIG Restaurant, 101 Wilshire Blvd., will be offering a prix fixe Valentine's menu Friday, Feb. 12 - Sunday, Feb. 14, priced at $72 per person. An abbreviated FIG a la carte menu will be available as well. Some of the menu items guests can expect are a half dozen oysters on the half shell, shrimp ceviche, avocado toast, arugula salad, warm heirloom carrot salad, milk braised pork shoulder, pan seared John Dory, and slow cooked beef filet.
For those looking for a more educational, exotic, or kid-friendly Valentine's celebration there is the 10th Annual Tea Lovers Festival, held at the
Fowler Museum, 308 Charles E Young Dr., at UCLA on Sunday, Feb. 14.
This family-oriented celebration kicks off with a tea-tasting reception from 2 - 3:15 p.m., featuring teas from around the world by Bird Pick Tea & Herb (China), Den's Tea (Japan), Glenburn Tea Direct (India), Hankook Tea (Korea) and Health-Ade Kombucha (USA), as attendees explore the Fowler Museum's wonderful exhibitions of cultural history. Children paint with tea and play a tea etiquette game with Sarita Gomez at the Kids-Love-Tea-Too crafting table.
The festivities will continue at the Fowler's Lenart Auditorium from 3:15 - 5 p.m. with a visual and musical treat for the entire family. The performance showcase features excerpts from “Alice and the Wonderful Tea Party” musical by the Santa Monica Playhouse, a Korean Tea Ceremony by Hankook Tea, Japanese classical songs by Yukari Black and Sanae Ando, traditional Japanese dance by Yoriko Takami, traditional Chinese music by Erhu musician Jack He, dance performance by UCLA Chinese Cultural Dance Club, and Indian dance by the Arpana Dance Company.
