The Board of Trustees of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Foundation held its fifth annual 1983 Society celebration at Juban's Restaurant in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 26.
This year's event included the second annual 1983 Society Wingspan Awards for Dedication. This award was created to recognize and celebrate the dedication of individuals and organizations who demonstrate meaningful and extraordinary support for LSMSA through financial means, volunteer time, advocacy and other avenues of engagement considered to go above and beyond.
Three individuals were selected as this year's recipients - Ryan Farr of Santa Monica, Calif.; Mary Green of Folsom; and Nolan Huguet of Pierre Part.
Originally from Mansfield, Farr is an LSMSA alumnus from the class of 1990. He was an LSMSA Foundation trustee for nine years, between 2005-14, serving as vice president for two years and president for another two years. He planned his 20-year class reunion and co-planned his 25th reunion and helped organize the first On the Road alumni networking event in 2007.
"I love LSMSA," said Farr when asked what inspired him to join the Foundation's board in 2005. "I have always appreciated the head start the school gave me for college.
