The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced plans to begin restoring infrastructure and stabilizing hillsides in areas that were burned by the Woolsey Fire along a 20-mile segment of State Route 1/Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Malibu.
Beginning Monday, December 3, various segments of PCH will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following location:
Right lane and shoulder of northbound PCH from Topanga Canyon Blvd. (State Route 27) to Decker Canyon Rd. (State Route 23)
The work is scheduled to be performed six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
Caltrans will be conducting multiple repairs along PCH, including the following work:
Replacing damaged metal-beam guardrail;
Clearing drainage lines;
Removing burned debris;
Restoring damaged signs;
Applying netting along affected slopes for erosion control;
And installing silt fences along the lower end of burned slopes.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to allow plenty of time to reach their destination. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.
