On Friday, May 6 at 11:45 a.m.
Officers responded to a petty theft that occurred at the Apple Store on the 3rd Street Promenade. Dispatch relayed that a female suspect was accused of stealing an iPhone from the store. Upon arrival officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Chianti Morgan entered the store and told a store employee that her phone was inside. She then attempted to take the phones that were placed on top of the display cases. After failing multiple times to remove the phones due to their security cords, Morgan successfully removed an iPhone 13 mini from the case and exited the store. The suspect was later located near the Santa Monica Pier, detained, positively identified by an employee from the store and placed under arrest. The stolen iPhone was recovered with the security cord still attached. Edwards was booked into the Santa Monica Jail and ultimately issued a citation.
