Walk: The Alzheimer’s Association held their annual fundraising and awareness walk on Sunday, Oct. 24 with an in-person event near the Santa Monica Pier. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brought more than 350 participants to the City and raised more than $121,000 toward free, local support as well as global research and advocacy at every level of government for those living with Alzheimer’s at their caregivers. Prior to COVID-19, the Association offered free-in person support and education in the Santa Monica area but the organization has transitioned to offering more than 40 local online and telephone support groups and education per month to the community. Additionally, 24/7 support is offered through the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900), offered 365 days a year and providing translations in over 200 languages. Santa Monica is one of 13 walks in the Association’s California Southland 2021 series. Visit. act.alz.org/socal for more information on upcoming walks.
