On August 8 at approximately 830 a.m.
SMPD officers were flagged down by a BBB driver regarding an unruly passenger on the bus. The suspect, later identified as Yulia Romero, was accused of screaming racial slurs and other ramblings and refused to exit the bus after the driver requested that she do so. Officers boarded the bus and attempted to convince Romero to leave without incident. Romero became combative and spat in the face of the responding officer. She was escorted off the bus, placed in handcuffs and booked into the Santa Monica Jail for battery on an officer.
