Fire gutted a large commercial building south of downtown Los Angeles before dawn Tuesday but no injuries were reported, authorities said.,
The nearly 22,000-square-foot (2,044-square-meter) structure was reported aflame around 3:30 a.m. and it took more than 140 firefighters to extinguish it, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
The structure contained textiles but the specific type of business was not immediately known, Prange said.
Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene for some time, using heavy equipment to move debris to reach remaining hot spots.
Investigators were on the scene to try to determine the cause.
