Dear Editor:
Local legislators are on the right side of history when it comes to advocating for Californians (Daily Press, “Local Reps, Say Federal Stimulus Bill Provides Essential But Not Enough Relief. Dec. 23).
Now’s the time for our political representatives, like our fine Congressional Representative Ted Lieu, mentioned int he article, to go further in the new year and support for 2021 the renewed effort for Congressional action for Medicare for all. Over and over again, a majority of Americans agree that we should fall in line with the rest of the industrialized world and adopt health care for all. And Medicare is one of the most successful and popular programs the U.S. has ever known.
With thousands upon thousands of evictions expected on the American horizon, and millions of Americans out of work—no longer with the health care that was attached to their employment, if they were lucky enough to get health care-- the time is now for our political representatives to make a stand against failed neoliberal austerity and work for Medicare for all.
Sincerely,
Andrew Liberman, Santa Monica
