On Friday, October 2, at approximately 9:31 p.m.
Officers responded to a call of a Carjacking occurring on the 1000 block of Georgina Ave. The reporting party stated that three male subjects had stolen his vehicle and that he and his brother were following them using GPS tracking. The reporting party stated that he had rented his vehicle through an app and was assaulted by the three individuals who appeared to be renting the vehicle via fraudulent means. Officers followed the route that the reporting party relayed and found the stolen vehicle, unoccupied, just outside of Santa Monica. The suspects, Rangel Diaz, Keven Paula, and Francisco Jimenez were found catching an Uber ride a few blocks away and were pulled over and each arrested on a 215(a) PC- Carjacking. An additional charge of 484e(c) PC- Possession of access cards with intent to defraud was added to Diaz after Officers found several EDD cards, among other things in the Suspect’s possession.
