David Putnam writes "Santa Monica should be able to control the uses of the airport for the good of the city." ("No more jets," Letter to the Editor, June 5.)
The airport is not just for the good of the city. It is part of the nationwide transportation network.
Should Santa Monica also have the right to tear up portions of the I-10 and PCH that run through the city, and convert them to parks or residential use?
This attack on the airport is Nimbyism at its most obvious.
