Santa Monica Daily Press Publisher Ross Furukawa conducts a one on one conversation with Sheila Kuehlin anticipation of the upcoming election for Los Angeles County Supervisor.
Sheila Kuehl points out that she has a lot of experience during her long political career with the problems of homelessness. "The numbers haven't changed much over the years. But we do have more insight now into what causes it, and that has changed." She feels we need an approach that coordinates everything available, with all cities and the county pooling their resources and expertise. "I'd like to see Permanent Supportive Housing," she offered, and using health and other funds for a more comprehensive solution. As to our water, she notes a recent lawsuit has made the county responsible for all water problems, and that can be a good thing.. "We will probably issue bonds," and that can also bring new business.
