PICO BLVD — Streets were blocked off and traffic was diverted as far as Stewart Street to Cloverfield Boulevard this afternoon as police investigated a fatal traffic collision that left one man dead on Pico Boulevard.
The accident involved two vehicles — a motorcycle and a mid-size sedan. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at around 1:45 p.m.
A crowd of roughly 50 onlookers ranging from residents to local business owners began to gather at Pico and 25th Street to witness the carnage on the street.
Two male Hispanics were in the sedan, and the driver was issued a field sobriety test by the Santa Monica Police Department. At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
As of 2:15 p.m. the body of the motorcyclist had not been transported.
