During the month of October, Santa Monica police officers will be focusing on pedestrians as part of a public safety campaign to cut down on the number of collisions in the city.
Since January of this year there have been 85 collisions involving pedestrians, police said.
Some of the violations police will be on the lookout for are jaywalking, walking against a red light or "Don't Walk" sign, failing to yield right-of-way to on-coming traffic and walking or running in the roadway.
In previous months officers have focused on poor driving habits that can cause crashes, including talking on a cell phone, speeding and following too closely.
