Editor:
I walk to work each morning from Euclid Street to 18th Street along Broadway. This morning I saw an elderly man crossing the street on Broadway near the Co-op. He was crossing corner to corner where there was no crosswalk. A lady in a silver SUV was honking at him and giving him the "shame on you" signal while she speeded around him.
Please remind your readers that according to the Santa Monica Police Department, "pedestrians have the right of way at corners, whether or not the crosswalks are painted on the ground."
Also, when there is a crosswalk drivers should "wait for the pedestrians to reach the other side."
Thank you for your terrific newspaper. I really enjoy it!
