Monday, Dec. 5, at 10:38 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 2400 block of Oak Street regarding a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they made contact with the person who called police. He told officers that his ex-girlfriend came to the front door of his home and created a disturbance over the fact that he had moved on with his life. After several minutes of her allegedly yelling profanities, she appeared to have left the location. When the man went outside to check, he said he saw her sitting in his car, which he left unlocked. The woman was still in the car when officers arrived. During their conversation with her, officers said they noticed she was holding a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. The suspect was removed from the car and placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was identified as Veronica Lynch, 35, of Venice, Calif. Her bail was set at $10,000.
Monday, Dec. 5, at 11:47 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2000 block of Pico Boulevard regarding a report of vandalism. When officers arrived, they made contact with four people who were standing next to a garbage bin located next to Eddie’s Liquor. During the investigation, one of the men admitted to using spray paint to vandalize the trash bin, which is owned by City Hall. Officers recovered the paint can and placed him under arrest for vandalism. The three other men were released. The suspect was identified as Jonathan Claiborne, 26, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $1,000.
Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 10:43 a.m.,
Officers were driving in the 2000 block of 19th Street when they were flagged down by a woman who told them that her house had been burglarized. Officers went to the home and located the landlord and a maintenance worker on the outside of the property. The landlord said she was on the property to conduct a repair that was required by city officials. She said that she gave proper notice to her tenant, who allegedly became angry and attacked the landlord with a machete. The renter told officers that she had a right to defend her property and refused to answer any questions about the machete, police said. After further investigation, officers placed the tenant under arrest. Officers obtained a search warrant and recovered the machete from inside the apartment. The suspect was transported to jail and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. She was identified as Cece Debarge, 49, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 8:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the Third Street Promenade — Sephora — regarding a report of four suspicious people shoplifting in the store. Before officers arrived, the suspects left and went to Brookstone. While there, officers and store security detained them for questioning. It was determined that all were in possession of stolen goods from six different stores on the promenade. Those stores included Sephora, Apple, Urban Outfitters, Brookstone, Pacific Sun and Footlocker. All four were placed under arrest for burglary and conspiracy. They were identified as: Trayvon Plummer, 22, of Long Beach; Richard Green, 22, of Los Angeles; Orlando Boatwright, 22, of Los Angeles; and Dominique Tate, 22, of Long beach. Bail was set at $20,000 for each, except Green, who had a warrant for his arrest. His bail was set at $56,000.
Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7:40 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the area of 1900 Delaware Avenue when they saw a Cadillac Seville driving eastbound with the rear license plate dangling from the vehicle. Officers said the rear license plate light was inoperable. Officers conducted a traffic stop to issue a citation and during their conversation with the driver learned that he did not have any identification. Officers asked for permission to search the car. It was granted and officers said they found crack cocaine in plain view. The officers asked the driver if he had anything on him that was illegal and he allegedly admitted to possessing a glass pipe, which he had hidden in his shoe. The driver was placed under arrest and booked for possession and two vehicle code violations. He was identified as Calvin Lane, 56, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000.
Sunday, Dec. 11, at 10:13 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of the promenade — Apple Store — regarding a report of attempted fraud. Descriptions of the suspects were broadcast over the police radio and officers located and detained a man and a woman who matched those descriptions as they exited Parking Structure 2. Officers said the man presented a fake driver’s license while the woman allegedly tried to hide under some boxes in the backseat of the truck. Officers searched the truck and recovered several fake IDs. The woman was also found to be in possession of fraudulent credit cards, IDs and was under the influence of a controlled substance, police said. The Apple store reported no loss. The suspects were placed under arrest and booked for various charges, including possession of fraudulent access cards, forgery and being under the influence of a controlled substance. They were identified as Christopher McNabb, 28, of Simi Valley and Whitney Mullins, 30, of Los Angeles. No bail was issued for McNabb. Bail for Mullins was set at $20,000.
