Sunday, April 10, 3:35 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the Main Library regarding a report of someone exposing themselves. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who told them that she went to the library to study for an exam. While there, she said she saw the suspect, whom she recognized from previous occasions, walk be her. He said hello. She ignored him. The suspect then sat next to the victim and pretended to read a book. He stared at the victim for a few minutes, got up and then sat on the ground in front of her. The victim tried to ignore him and continued studying. After a minute or two, she looked down at the suspect and saw that his pants were halfway down and he was masturbating. The female victim fled and contacted security. Officers placed the suspect, Tiwalola Shoyinka, 44, a transient, under arrest for indecent exposure. His bail was set at $35,000.
Thursday, April 7, at 1:28 a.m.,
Officers responded to the rear of an apartment complex located on the 2000 block of Cloverfield Boulevard regarding a male and female arguing inside a vehicle. When officers arrived, they saw the two yelling. The woman started backing the vehicle out of the complex, police said. Officers detained them and further investigation revealed that the two were drinking at the Daily Pint pub on Pico Boulevard when they got into an argument about cigarettes. As they drove home, the woman struck the man, her husband, and he hit her back, causing a cut over her eye, police said. Officers placed the husband, identified as Craig Robart, 50, of Sherman Oaks, under arrest for inflicting an injury on a spouse and for being drunk in public. The wife, identified as Geraldine Dave, 37, also of Sherman Oaks, was arrested for inflicting an injury on a spouse and for driving under the influence. Bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, April 8, at 9:10 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 100 block of Palisades Avenue after receiving a report of a burglary that occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who said she just returned from a business trip to find the suspect living in her home. She did not know who the suspect was and did not give her permission to be there. Officers spoke with the suspect, who told them that she had lived there for 25 years. Officers placed her under arrest for burglary because she used utilities and consumed some of the victim’s food. She was identified as Yssa Calderon, 46, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, April 8, at 9:08 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol near the 700 block of Pico Boulevard when their automated license plate reader captured a stolen plate. Officers followed the vehicle into a parking lot in the 700 block of Broadway. Officers arrested the driver without incident. He was identified as George Jones, 42, of Los Angeles. He was booked for grand theft auto. His bail was set at $35,000.
Friday, April 8, at 6:50 a.m.,
Officers responded to the Carl’s Jr. located on the 2700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard after receiving a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they made contact with an employee who told them that she was behind the counter when the suspect entered. He was allegedly yelling incoherently while swinging his arms. The employee asked the suspect to leave. Instead, he reached over the counter and slapped the employee in the face, police said. The suspect then went and sat down in the restaurant. As officers walked toward the suspect, he grabbed a metal napkin holder and was about to throw it at the cops but they were able to detain him. He was placed under arrest for assault and battery and obstruction of justice. He was identified as John Doe, 55, a transient. His bail was set at $20,000.
Sunday, April 10, at 6:26 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the 2600 block of Alley 7 when they saw a man working on his car that they knew was on probation. Officers made contact with the man and were talking with him and his girlfriend, who was also on probation, outside the room they were subletting from the man’s mother. Officers conducted a probation check on the room and said they found a large amount of cash, some methamphetamines, numerous fake IDs, equipment to make fake IDs and checkbooks in the names of others. Police placed the suspects under arrest for possession of meth, possession of stolen property, manufacturing counterfeit checks, forging the state seal, identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violations. The suspects were identified as Peter Resmer, 36, and Maryelese Haena, 33 of Santa Monica. Bail was set at $50,000 and $90,000 respectively. Police said Haena had a burglary warrant.
Monday, April 11, at 9:22 p.m.,
Officers responded to Nordstrom at Santa Monica Place regarding a shoplifter in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said the suspect entered the store, removed a ring and placed it in a bag. She then left the store without paying for it. The ring was valued at $143. Police said security detained the suspect and waited for police to arrive. Officers took the suspect into custody and she was booked for petty theft. She was identified as Larisa Arakcheeva, 54, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $1,000.
