Saturday, Nov. 27, at 6:10 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the corner of Neilson Way and Fraser Street regarding a traffic collision. When officers arrived, they located the driver of the vehicle involved in the single-car collision. As officers talked to the driver, they observed symptoms of intoxication. Officers had the driver perform a series of balance and coordination tests. During one of the tests, the driver allegedly fell to the ground. Officers placed the driver under arrest for driving while impaired. While transporting her to a local hospital, she vomited in the back seat of the patrol car and passed out, police said. The driver, Michelle Perez, 22, of Studio City, was arrested for driving while impaired. Her bail was set at $15,000.
Monday, Nov. 22, at 9 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1800 block of 16th Street regarding a report of domestic violence. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who told them that she was involved in an argument with her mother while the two were in the kitchen. The victim became upset and broke a porcelain plate on the ground, police said. The suspect heard the argument and allegedly assaulted the victim by grabbing her neck from behind. The victim was able to yell for help and a cousin responded and called police. Officers arrested the suspect for assault with the intent to cause great bodily injury. The suspect was identified as Mario Martin, 44, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $30,000.
Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 8:10 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Lincoln Boulevard — CVS pharmacy — regarding a report of shoplifting. When officers arrived, they made contact with an employee at the pharmacy who said he and his manager were in an office when they saw a customer take a bottle of tequila and place it in his backpack. The suspect then allegedly took a bar of soap and placed it in his pocket. The suspect tried to leave the store without paying for the items. He was detained by store employees and placed under citizen’s arrest. During the pre-booking search, officers located burglary tools that included spark plug chips, a flashlight, screwdrivers and rubber gloves. The suspect was booked for burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was identified as Jose Arriaga, 27, a transient. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 2:37 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of 20th Street regarding an assault that just occurred. When officers arrived, they located the alleged victim and the suspect together. The victim told officers that he wanted the suspect arrested. He said he was at a location when the suspect told him to leave. The victim said he had not completed his work yet. The suspect then allegedly struck the victim in the face with a closed fist. The victim fell to the ground and called police. Police placed the suspect under arrest for assault and battery. He was identified as Johnny Baca, 49, of Santa Monica. No bail information was provided by police.
Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 10:25 p.m.,
Officers on routine patrol in the 1800 block of Arizona Avenue spotted a man riding his bike on the sidewalk in violation of the municipal code. The cyclist also did not have a light on his bicycle. Officers stopped him and were able to identify him. During a pre-booking search of the suspect, officers said they found drug paraphernalia and pieces of crack cocaine. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a municipal code violation. He was identified as Curtis King, 21, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $10,000.
Friday, Nov. 26, at 12:09 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1800 block of Lincoln Boulevard — 7-Eleven — regarding a report of vandalism. When officers arrived, they were advised by witnesses that the suspect came into the convenience store wanting to buy a cell-phone charger. When advised that the store did not carry a charger, the suspect started to leave. As the suspect walked by an ATM machine, there was some money in the slot that belonged to another customer that had just come in but was having problems with the machine. The money apparently was dispensed after the customer left. The suspect grabbed the money and started to walk out. The cashier told the suspect to stop and give back the money. There was a short struggle and the suspect left the business. As she left, she threw down the $20 she took, police said. She then allegedly grabbed a skateboard from an individual in front of the store and swung it at the door, causing it to shatter. The suspect then fled the location. Officers located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect was identified as Jesselyn Jones, 22, a transient. She was arrested for robbery and vandalism. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, Nov. 26, at 9:22 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard — Denny’s — regarding an individual who was allegedly disturbing the peace. When officers arrived, they were advised by the restaurant manager that the customer was unwilling to pay for her $13 meal. The manager was willing to place the suspect under arrest for defrauding an innkeeper. As officers talked to the manager, a customer told them that she gave the suspect $10 to help her pay her bill. Officers said the suspect became belligerent when approached and started yelling that she only had $11 to pay for the meal. The manager accepted the amount and asked her to leave. The suspect refused to leave and was placed under arrest for trespassing. The suspect was identified as Stacey Collins, 38, a transient. Her bail was set at $10,250.
