PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Santa Monica police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men involved in a sexual assault in which a woman was allegedly handcuffed, blindfolded and forced to hand over money, police said Thursday.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said a woman was walking east in the 2900 block of Ocean Park Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 when two men in a parked car grabbed her, handcuffed her and pushed her into the backseat.
The victim was driven around and sexually assaulted. She offered to give the suspects money from her wallet if they let her go, Trisler said. After taking the money, the suspects dropped her off in the parking lot of a business on Pico and Sawtelle boulevards.
The first suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a heavy build, short dark hair, a beard, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a heavy build, bald with hair on the sides, a beard, and wearing a white T-shirt and a gold watch. The suspects were driving an older model, box-shaped, four-door sedan with tinted windows.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Eddie Soto at (310) 458-8218, Sgt. Ira Rutan at (310) 458-8959, or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at (310) 458-8495.
