Sunday, Nov. 7, at 6:12 a.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 2100 block of Centinela Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they located the alleged suspect inside a home. He was detained by one of the victims, who told officers the suspect entered the home by breaking a window. Once inside, the suspect allegedly started assaulting a female juvenile by pushing her to the ground and striking her with a closed fist in the face and chest area. As the suspect was striking the victim, another exited his room and dragged the suspect off the girl. He was detained until police arrived. The suspect, Roland Xuan Ngheim, 47, a transient in Santa Monica, was arrested for burglary and assault with intent to commit great bodily injury. His bail was set at $50,000.
Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1:54 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a disorderly suspect refusing to get out of the roadway. When officers arrived, they observed a suspect in the middle of the road. The suspect appeared to be agitated and had symptoms of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. Officers determined the suspect was a danger to himself and placed him under arrest for public intoxication. During the booking search, officers said they found a glass pipe on the suspect containing methamphetamine. The pipe was hidden in the suspect’s crotch area. Officers booked the suspect for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. The suspect was identified as Clarence Johns, 41, a transient in Santa Monica. He was not eligible for bail.
Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a traffic collision and a DUI investigation. When officers arrived, they observed two people outside of their cars. One showed signs of impairment. As officers talked with the suspect, he allegedly became uncooperative and agitated. The suspect said he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the collision. He said his girlfriend was responsible and that she had fled the scene. The other driver stated she was stopped for a pedestrian when the other vehicle struck her from behind. The driver stated that the other individual was the driver and sole occupant in the vehicle. Officers attempted to have the driver perform a series of balance and coordination tests. The driver refused to do any. Officers arrested the driver, Fritz Gerhardt, 47, of Venice for driving while impaired. His bail is $40,000.
Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 8:14 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1800 block of Wilshire Boulevard (Rite Aid) regarding a shoplifting suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who told officers that the suspect entered the business, placed a can of chili in his pants and then went to the register with other items. The suspect paid for those items, but not the chili. The suspect then left the store. Security contacted him and the suspect handed back the chili. He was placed under arrest for petty theft. He was identified as Ronald Hughes, 33. His bail was set at $1,000.
Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 11:19 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Euclid Street and Olympic Boulevard regarding an attempted strong-arm robbery. When officers arrived, the victim said that the suspect approached and asked for a cigarette. When the victim did not have a cigarette, the suspect allegedly told the victim to give him $20 or he would kill him. The victim, fearing for his safety, fled and called police. Officers located the suspect a short distance away. He was placed under arrest for attempted robbery and making threats. He was identified as Raymond Gonzales, 44, a transient in Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000.
Thursday, Nov. 4, at 9:31 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Ocean Avenue regarding a report of defrauding an innkeeper. When officers arrived, they made contact with a taxi driver who said he picked up the suspect in Laguna Beach and drove her to her home in Santa Monica. When they arrived at the location, the suspect allegedly said she did not have the money to pay the $186 fare. The driver wanted to press charges so the cops placed her under arrest for defrauding an innkeeper, providing false information to police and a probation violation. She was identified as Jinah Seo, 47, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $5,000.
Friday, Nov. 5, at 6:50 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2700 block of Main Street (Finn McCool’s) regarding a report of defrauding an innkeeper. Upon arrival, the manager told the cops that the suspect ordered $38.95 worth of food. The suspect did not have money to pay for his meal. The suspect, Thomas Anderson, 27, a transient in Santa Monica, was placed under citizen’s arrest for defrauding the innkeeper. His bail was $5,000.
