From Aug. 27-29, Santa Monica firefighters volunteered to help “Fill the Boot” with donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a non-profit organization working to find a cure for the hereditary disease.
Standing for a few hours a day on Santa Monica Boulevard on the Third Street Promenade, firefighters raised $7,828.68, more than $1,000 more than last year.
Proceeds aim to help fund MDA programs, which includes research, health care services, advocacy and education.
