Oregon State quarterback Ryan Katz, who graduated from Santa Monica High School in 2008, led the Beavers to a 35-28 win over Louisville on Saturday in Corvallis.
The win catapulted the Beavers back into the Associated Press top 25 rankings. The Beavers are ranked 24th for the second time this season.
Katz threw for 142 yards in the win that evened the Beavers’ record at 1-1.
“It was great, I had my first start here at Reser Stadium,” Katz said during the post-game press conference. “The crowd really got loud, and it helps with our defense, especially on those third downs is where it helps a lot.”
The challenges don’t end for Katz, who will lead OSU against No. 3 Boise State on the road on Saturday.
“It’s the moment you have been waiting for,” Katz said. “We will go in and look at film. That is when we will learn about Boise State and try to study them, in order to find ways to make the plays against them.”
