PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY A pair of suspects were recently arrested in connection with a stabbing that took place after a Santa Monica High School football game last month.
Kenneth Keith Jones, 19, and Christopher Jerome Diaz, 18, were taken into custody on Oct. 2 and booked for attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon, which wasn’t a firearm yet caused great bodily injury.
A 17-year-old Inglewood resident was stabbed multiple times on Sept. 23 after Samohi’s game against Venice High School at Santa Monica College’s Corsair Field. The incident occurred as the victim left the game in which Samohi lost. The suspect suffered non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
While police said at the time that the attack did not appear to be gang-related, the suspects were booked under California Penal Code Section 186.22, which concerns individuals involved in criminal street gangs.
Police had no further information on the arrests.
