PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Brawley Nolte, the 23-year-old son of actor Nick Nolte, was arrested Tuesday after a car accident in Santa Monica, suspected to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
Nolte was driving in the 600 block of Pacific Coast Highway when his 1998 Mercedes struck the car in front of him during an attempt to change lanes. There were no injuries in the crash.
He was booked for driving under the influence and for possession of a controlled substance — prescription drugs. The Malibu resident was released later that night after posting $5,000 bail, SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said.
The younger Nolte has appeared in several films, including in the role of Mel Gibson’s son in “Ransom.”
His father was also arrested in 2002 in Malibu and charged with driving under the influence, an incident made famous by a mugshot that showed the actor disheveled in a blue Hawaiian shirt.
