Staples is doing its part to show appreciation to teachers for their hard work.
On Aug. 15, the first 100 teachers visiting various Staples stores between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. will receive an EcoEasy bag full of supplies including notepads and writing utensils.
“Every year, teachers reach into their own pockets to pay for classroom supplies,” said Jevin Eagle, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing for Staples. “Now in its sixth consecutive year, Teacher Appreciation Day is our way of showing teachers how much they are valued and helping them get the supplies they need to do their job.”
In a study from Perry Research Professionals, teachers reported spending an average total of $395 of their own money in the 2007-2008 school year. First year teachers spent an average of $770 of their own money on classroom products.
Teachers will also be able to preview new products and services at Staples, such as 3M supplies, Crayola markers and various other products. Additionally, Staples is offering teachers special deals regarding black and white copies, ball-point pens, highlighters, rulers, folders, pencils, glue sticks, erasers and more.
Staples is offering teachers multiple rewards programs and bonuses for teachers who spend their own money to earn store credit and access extra deals. This includes an ink and toner cartridge recycling program, in which teachers receive credit back for each cartridge.
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Day, the Staples Foundation for Learning is also awarding $50,000 to the National Education Association Foundation for their Green Grants program and $50,000 to Fund for Teachers for their Teacher Grants program.
