Wednesday, June 24, at 5:15 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2600 block of 11th Street regarding an assault and battery that just occurred. While en-route, officers were advised that the female involved in the fight was biting a dog. Upon arrival, officers said they observed a female sitting on the back of a dog, biting its ear. The female allegedly refused to get off the dog, forcing officers to physically remove her. Officers made contact with witnesses who said that the suspect had physically assaulted them. One victim said they were choked by the suspect while the other was struck in the face. During the altercation, the suspect’s two dogs began fighting with each other, witnesses said. The suspect attempted to break up the fight by choking one dog and biting the other, police said. The suspect was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and cruelty to animals. She was identified as BS, 29, from Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Sunday, June 28, at 7:31 p.m.,
Officers observed a vehicle being driven with expired registration in the 2600 block of Lincoln Boulevard. Officers attempted to stop the driver, activating their emergency lights and siren. The driver allegedly continued to drive and did not notice the lights or siren. As the officers pulled up next to the vehicle, the driver saw the officers. Upon contact, the officers believed the driver was under the influence. The suspect, Yara Fretias, 31, from Los Angeles, was transported to the Santa Monica Jail and booked for driving while intoxicated, expired registration and no proof of insurance. No bail was set.
Sunday, June 28, at 7:35 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Seventh Street regarding suspicious individuals attempting to climb onto a second story balcony. When officers arrived, they made contact with two women who said they were inside their apartment when they saw a suspect climbing onto the balcony. The women confronted the suspect, who fled to where another man was waiting. Officers located the suspects in an adjacent carport. Both suspects were in possession of bicycles that the officers believed were stolen. During the investigation, officers determined that one of the suspects was in possession of marijuana. The suspect, Jorge Galvez, 18, of Hollywood, was booked for possession of stolen property, prowling and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $20,000. The other suspect, Jose Gonzales, 19, of Los Angeles, was booked for possession of stolen property, prowling and a probation violation. His bail was set at $20,000.
Saturday, June 27, at 12:30 p.m.,
Officers were investigating a massage parlor in the 1800 block of 14th Street that was allegedly operating without a permit and had advertised on Craigslist, a Web site featuring a section in which people can post offers to have sex in exchange for money. By posing as clients, officers were able to determine that the suspects inside were operating the business without a permit. One of the officers was allegedly offered sex during his massage session. Officers placed three people under arrest. The first suspect, Hyun Lee, 39, of Los Angeles was booked for operating a business without a license. Her bail was set at $250. The second suspect was identified as Kyung Lee, 34, of Los Angeles, who was booked for prostitution. Her bail was set at $2,000. The third suspect was identified as Cinthia Ortega, 22, of Downey, who was booked for not having a massage permit. Her bail was set at $250.
Friday, June 26, at 5:40 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Wilshire Boulevard — Rite Aid — regarding a report of a shoplifting suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said they saw the suspect remove an item from a shelf and place it inside his jacket pocket. The suspect then allegedly picked up another item, went to the cashier and paid for it. Security guards stopped the suspect once he was outside the store and searched his jacket, recovering the stolen item. The suspect, Jesus Amador, 41, a transient, was arrested and booked for petty theft and outstanding warrants. The item recovered was valued at $82.99. Bail was set at $1,866.
Thursday, June 25, at 4:20 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a shoplifting suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said two women entered the store acting suspicious. Security guards trailed the suspects and watched as the two went into a dressing room with clothes and then left a few minutes later with no clothes. Security guards found a security tag in the dressing room, but no clothes. Once outside the store, security detained the suspects and recovered the stolen items, valued at $206.92. The suspects were booked for burglary. The first suspect was identified as Bonecia Lenoir, 18, of Los Angeles She was also booked for contributing to the delinquency of a minor because the suspect was underage. Lenoir’s bail was set at $20,000. The juvenile was released to her parents.
Wednesday, June 24, at 8:35 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of Lincoln and Ocean Park boulevards regarding a report of suspicious people in the area. Officers were able to locate two men in the area of Euclid and Maple streets that matched the description of the suspects. As officers were talking to the suspects, a victim from a separate incident arrived and told officers that the suspects attempted to rob him, police said. The man said the suspects demanded money and struck him with a closed fist. The victim was able to flee. The original reporting party advised officers that she felt the suspects were attempting to steal her iPod. The suspects were arrested and booked for attempted robbery. The first suspect was identified as Gustavo Gracida, 20 of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000. The second suspect was identified as a male juvenile from Santa Monica. He was transported to the Eastlake Juvenile Hall.
