The American Red Cross of Santa Monica will host the 12th annual Super CPR, offering free adult and child CPR classes Saturday.
Held at Ken Edwards Center on Fourth Street, the training day will be divided into two four-hour classes held in both English and Spanish.
After passing the course, a Red Cross certificate is available for $5. Other CPR and emergency preparedness materials will be available free of charge along with books and emergency supplies available for purchase.
During the last 12 years, more than 4,000 area residents have participated in the free CPR courses.
“Our health classes are given throughout the year, but this is one of the few opportunities we have to offer CPR classes for free,” said Mark Solnick, director of community health services for the American Red Cross of Santa Monica.
The classes typically cost $60 but the free Saturday event is offered with the help of volunteer instructors and sponsors.
The courses are open to anyone in good health over the age of 12 and reservations are required. Visit www.redcrossofsantamonica.org or call (310) 394-3773 to reserve a space.
