PICO BOULEVARD — Paul McCartney and Radiohead top the list of performers for next month’s 51st Annual Grammy Awards, both of them nominees.
They will join a collection of performers that includes Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry and Carrie Underwood.
Radiohead will be making its first live U.S. television performance since 2000. Rapper T.I. and Justin Timberlake will perform together, and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z will be joined on stage by T.I., Lil Wayne and Kanye West in a special performance of their hit single, “Swagger Like Us,” according to a state released by the Academy.
Jay-Z and West each have six nominations. Jay-Z is up for Album Of The Year as a featured artist on Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III”; Best Rap Solo Performance for “Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)…”; Best Rap Album for “American Gangster”; Best Rap Song for “Swagga Like Us” with Lil Wayne, T.I. and West; and has two nods in Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Mr. Carter” with Lil Wayne and “Swagga Like Us.”
West is nominated for Album Of The Year as a producer on Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III”; Song Of The Year for “American Boy” with will.i.am, Keith Harris, Josh Lopez, Caleb Speir, John Legend and Estelle Swaray; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “American Boy” with Estelle; Best Rap Song for “Swagga Like Us”; and has two nominations in Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Put On” with Young Jeezy and “Swagga Like Us.”
Radiohead has five nods: Album Of The Year and Best Alternative Album for “In Rainbows,” and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Rock Song and Best Short Form Music Video for “House Of Cards.”
T.I. is up for four awards: two in Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Wish You Would” with Ludacris and “Swagga Like Us”; Best Rap Song for “Swagga Like Us”; and Best Rap Album for “Paper Trail.”
McCartney has two nominations: Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “That Was Me” and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for “I Saw Her Standing There.”
Timberlake is nominated for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for “4 Minutes” with Madonna and Timbaland.
Perry will perform as part of this year’s “My GRAMMY Moment” segment on the telecast. Produced in partnership with CBS.com, “My GRAMMY Moment” allows music fans to upload a 30- to 60-second video of themselves singing along to a portion of Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” to www.cbs.com/grammys through Feb. 6. Videos will be voted on by fans and the public-at-large, and the most popular videos will be shown as part of Perry’s performance on what has been dubbed “music’s biggest night.”
The awards show will be held Feb. 8 at Staples Center and be broadcast on CBS from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
