After much deliberation, Samohi football star Luke Zelon has decided to play for Ivy League heavy-weight Harvard.
The standout linebacker had been pursued by Iowa State, Washington State and New Mexico, but decided to pick education over playing for a major program.
“This is a great thing for him,” Samohi Head Coach Travis Clark said. “I’m excited for him and his family.”
Now that Zelon, who was named to the All-CIF team this season, has made a decision, Clark is busy trying to find destinations for a number of his senior players.
He said that quarterback Garrett Safron has had an up-and-down time during recruiting. He said that recruiters show interest, but they would like to see more film on him. The problem is that Safron only played in a pass-happy offense for one season, reason for recruiters to give pause.
Clark said that Alabama A&M and Azusa Pacific are currently looking at Safron.
Keelan Malone, a linebacker/defensive end, is currently talking to Montana and the University of San Diego. Jared Onouye is also getting looks from Ivy League schools, but has yet to make a decision.
