St. Monica Catholic High School’s softball team ended a minor losing streak last week with a 3-1 win over Alhambra High School during the Whittier Tournament.
With the win, the Mariners improved its record to 5-4 on the season. Next up for St. Monica is a game against Ramona Convent, also from Alhambra. The game will be played on Thursday and is part of the Memorial Tournament.
St. Monica volleyball heats up
After a slow start that included a pair of losses to begin the season, St. Monica’s boys volleyball team has begun to heat up. The team has won four out of the last six.
The team, which is 4-5 on the season, will travel to Brentwood High School today for a 5 p.m. match. Brentwood is an impressive 7-1 this season.
Samohi volleyball on modest streak
Santa Monica High School’s boys volleyball team is riding a modest two-game win streak. Victories over Palisades and El Segundo have helped the Vikings even its record at 3-3.
Samohi began the season by losing its first two games to Bishop Montgomery and Granite Bay, but have won three of four since.
Samohi softball hits road
Fresh off the High Desert Classic, Samohi’s softball team will travel to take on Redondo today at 3:15 p.m.
The Vikings, victorious in its last game against Burbank, began the season 6-3. The team participated in five tournaments this season, but will leave those behind as it completes the rest of its preseason schedule. The team’s first Ocean League game will take place March 30 against Inglewood.
Vikings baseball takes to the road
Since beginning the season 4-1, Samohi’s baseball team has lost two in a row. The latest setback came at Banning on March 21.
Senior Tyler Skaggs tossed five innings of two-run ball in the loss. He tallied eight strikeouts and walked a pair.
Next up, the Vikings (4-3 overall) will travel to Palos Verdes Peninsula on Thursday. Palos Verdes Peninsula is 3-3 on the season.
Pacifica baseball keeps rolling
Pacifica Christian’s upstart baseball squad improved its record to 3-1 with an 11-0 victory over Summit View on March 23.
The team, in its inaugural season, has been surprisingly competitive for a team that is comprised mostly of freshman.
The Seawolves will take on Summit View West Thursday at 2 p.m.
