Last week a series of full-page ads in the Daily Press attacked Mayor Bloom, by name, for Big Blue Bus' advertising policy. During an election season in which Bloom is a candidate, attack ads are open to special scrutiny. I hope those paying for the negative messages plan to file any required disclosures of how the ads were financed with the city clerk and/or the secretary of state.
No matter whom one may support — I personally have endorsed Betsy Butler for Assembly — this is a matter of transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
