I applaud your commentary article on the melting of the polar ice cap. The authors did an excellent job of explaining the effects of global warming. Hopefully articles like this will begin to convince those readers who are still "climate change deniers", for these changes are occurring in our own lifetime and will certainly have an even greater effect on the lives of our children and grandchildren.
Unfortunately, many of those who do understand the science of global warming feel there is nothing that they can do as individuals to head off its impact.
But there is something we can all do. Each of us can lobby our federal representatives to support the legislation currently being considered by Congress that places the true economic cost of carbon-based fuels.
