This is getting ridiculous. It's one mega-project after another, each one adding to the obliteration of what has made Santa Monica such a great place to live. Development can obviously be both good and bad, so why is it that we are so often being presented with the bad?
What exactly is the problem here? A toothless, acquiescent Planning Commission that leads developers to believe they have a chance to get this kind of thing through?
Or is it a City Council somehow beholden to special interests?
Surely you must understand that the citizenry is awakening to all this. And that people are prepared to put electoral and administrative time, effort and money toward getting rid of a governing culture they have come to distrust and dislike.
