A number of years ago due to a drought situation, restaurants did not serve water unless it was requested. We eat out in both coffee shops and nice restaurants frequently. Some of them serve water without being asked for it. I understand that it takes at least eight glasses of water to wash and rinse the glass used to serve the water. It is such a waste and I wish restaurants would not automatically serve water. They should do so only on request.
