We are in total agreement with the letter printed in the Nov. 17 Santa Monica Daily Press. Dr. Robert N. Cleaves makes an extremely compelling argument for retaining the SMO land as an airport. We applaud his humanitarian efforts, which would not have been possible without the Santa Monica airport. Pilots and SMO personnel are doing their best to reduce emissions and noise, and both could be so much worse if SMO closed and LAX airplanes flew above that area.
