PICO NEIGHBORHOOD — Police are investigating a possible gang-related shooting that erupted here Sunday night following a brawl that involved 20 to 30 black and Hispanic men who gathered near Woodlawn Cemetery, an area known for gang activity.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said several shots were fired but there were no victims at the scene when officers arrived shortly after 9:30 p.m. All that was left were shell casings.
The shooting took place in the 1800 block of 16th Street, home to two entrenched gangs, the Graveyard Crips and SM13. Police did not say if the shooting was gang-related.
No suspects have been arrested and no victims have come forward, Trisler said.
