Friday, April 13, at 9:21 a.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1500 block of 15th Street to conduct a probation check at an apartment complex. At that time officers said they recognized a suspect wanted in connection with an assault earlier in the week in which a man had his ear cut off with a knife following a fight over money. The victim told officers that he was near Parking Structure 10 — 1125 Third Street — on April 11. He and the suspect were arguing over money. The victim said he paid the suspect some money, but not all that he owed. The suspect allegedly became agitated and sliced off the victim’s left ear with a knife. Both fled the scene. Originally the victim did not want to get the police involved, but once he did officers went to the location where the alleged crime occurred and gathered evidence that led them to the apartment on 15th Street. While there, they took the suspect into custody and located two baggies filled with methamphetamine, some drug paraphernalia and two pill bottles containing hydrocodone and Alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety. A second suspect was taken into custody for possession of drugs and stolen property. The suspect allegedly involved in the attack was identified as Jerry Lee Reis, 42, of Los Angeles. He was booked for mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $100,000. The second suspect was identified as Garrick Lee Brandt, 52, of Santa Monica. He was booked for possession of drugs, paraphernalia and stolen property. His bail was set at $20,000.
Saturday, April 14, at 7:39 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2500 block of Fourth Street regarding a report of a man hitting himself with a skateboard. When officers arrived, they made contact with the man in the 300 block of Ocean Park Boulevard. The man seemed agitated and was displaying signs of being under the influence of drugs. Officers detained him and searched him. They allegedly found multiple hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the Santa Monica Jail for booking. During a booking search, police found heroin hiding inside the suspect’s clothing. He was eventually booked for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence of drugs. He was identified as Julian Mayersjohnson, 33, of Venice, Calif. His bail was set at $10,000.
Saturday, April 14, at 7:22 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1900 block of 19th Street regarding a report of a man who was threatening to attack another person. When officers arrived, they detained the suspect and ran a background check. Officers learned that the suspect was wanted in connection with an earlier incident in which he allegedly threatened to slit another man’s throat. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and for making criminal threats. He was identified as Matias Frias, 42, a transient. His bail was set at $50,000.

Investigators responded to the 2200 block of Main Street to serve a search warrant at the home of a suspect wanted in connection with a burglary that occurred in the 800 block of 12th Street on April 9. In that robbery, the victim reported that two computers were missing, along with some jewelry. Police said the thief was able to gain access to the home through an unlocked bedroom window. Forensics responded and gathered physical evidence, leading investigators to seek a warrant for the suspect’s arrest. He was taken into custody after police found him hiding in a closet. He was booked for burglary and identified as Jordan Scales, 18, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000.
Thursday, April 12, at 9:35 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Princeton Street regarding a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who was being treated by fire fighters for various injuries. He told officers that he was trying to sleep inside his van when he heard what sounded like someone trying to urinate on his van. When he opened the rear doors of the van to confront the suspect, he accidentally hit him in the head with the door. This angered the suspect and two of his friends, who all began yelling and allegedly threatening the victim inside the van. One suspect started hitting the victim, police said. Fearing for his safety, the victim removed a fire extinguisher and tried spraying the three suspects to keep them at bay. Once it ran out, the three suspects charged him and beat him. They then jumped into a vehicle and drove off. They were pulled over a short distance from the crime scene and were identified by the victim. Police placed all three under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. Two were already on probation. The suspects were identified as Roberto Coreamolina, 26, Marco Gonzalez, 22, and Carlos Huezo, 19; all from Los Angeles. Bail was set at $30,000 each.
Tuesday, April 10, at 2:45 a.m.,
Officers on routine patrol on Neilson Way said they saw a 1991 green Honda Accord drive in front of them with no rear license plate light. The driver seemed to be straddling lanes, police said. A traffic stop was conducted and during a search of the vehicle and the passenger’s purse, police said they found three glass pipes commonly used to smoke meth. The passenger was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was identified as Leslie Johana Garcia, 27, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $500.
