PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Police are on the hunt for two men who tried to abduct a 17-year-old girl who was walking to school Monday morning.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said the teenager was walking on the 3100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when a man approached her and tried to engage her in a conversation. The girl ignored the man and continued walking.
That’s when the suspect grabbed her and began pulling her into the street towards a vehicle parked nearby. The girl said a second man was waiting in the parked car.
A struggle ensued and the teen was able to free herself. She ran to New Roads School and told officials there what happened, Trisler said.
Officers were notified and conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
The man who tried to grab the girl was described as a white male in his 20s with a slim build, 5 feet, 8 inches tall. The suspect was wearing a gray sweatshirt, light blue jeans and tennis shoes. The suspect in the vehicle was described only as a male. The vehicle is said to be a black four-door sedan with tinted windows.
